About Our Program
The mission of the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program is to use research-based horticultural knowledge and practices to deliver educational outreach and project-based efforts that inspire change and promote healthy people, healthy communities and a healthy planet.

The application is open from August 1 to October 1 each year, with the core course beginning in January.

Fun Fact: In 2023, there were 3,177 University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener Volunteers that gave 185,751 hours of service to their communities, reaching over 166,057 Minnesota residents!
